Obama talks with Tumblr users

Quick recap
President Barack Obama teamed up with social networking site Tumblr to reach out to the indebted youth of America.

Obama is promoting the expansion of a program meant to lower the monthly payments of school tuition loans. A method of achieving this would be to cap repayments to 10% of earned income.

While at the same time, Obama hopes to give a shout out to more comprehensive bill championed by senate democrats.

The President is not shy about appearing on mediums that skew to a younger audience, and just under half of Tumblr users are in the 18-35 demo. To promote the Affordable Health Care Act, Obama went on the internet show “Between Two Ferns,” with Comedian Zack Galifianakis.

Tumblr is primarily a visual blogging site (if judged by it’s typical usage), but it could also handle text and the social network solicited for questions to the commander-in-chief before hand. On Tuesday it was moderated by Tumblrs’ 27-year-old founder, a college drop out. (Which Obama called him the “Lebron” of his peers, an outlier and not a typical result of missing a college education.)

At times the Q and A seemed like a parent instilling some reality into their college-bound teens. For instance, Obama weighed the risk and rewards of following ones passion and being prepared in a field with ample job offerings. The level minded solution was to probably work at a job one may not like, to be able to obtain the stability to chase one’s passions.

Topics floated from college debt, education strategy, to the recent school-shooting in Oregon.
